Boilerplate: History's Mechanical Marvel Movie Update

Posted by Maki On Friday, July 30, 2010 0 comments

There are lots of Marvel news available online but I can assure you that this Marvel shown below is different from a typical comic superhero. J.J. Abrams will produce the movie adaptation of Boilerplate: History’s Mechanical Marvel, based on Paul Guinan’s and Anina Bennet’s graphic novel about a robot in the 19th Century.

The book, published last year by Abrams Image, tells the robot’s story by inserting the character into pictures drawn in the style of the age.

So, “Meet Boilerplate, the world’s first robot soldier – not in a present-day military lab or a science-fiction movie, but in the past, during one of the most fascinating periods of U.S. history.

Designed by Professor Archibald Campion in 1893 as a prototype, for the self-proclaimed purpose of “preventing the deaths of men in the conflicts of nations,” Boilerplate charged into combat alongside such notables as Teddy Roosevelt and Lawrence of Arabia.

Campion and his robot also circled the planet with the U.S. Navy, trekked to the South Pole, made silent movies, and hobnobbed with the likes of Mark Twain and Nikola Tesla.”

Impressive robot, indeed. And with Abrams on board, we have no doubt that this will be something interesting to watch.

Now let us talk about Abrams upcoming plans.

Next project which could be expected from J.J. Abrams is Super 8 which has been kept under wraps. He is also working on an untitled Star Trek sequel as producer and having Mission: Impossible IV and Samurai Jack lining up next.

Grey's Anatomy - Private Practice: Sheperds Crossover!

Posted by Maki On Thursday, July 29, 2010 0 comments

Shonda has a great idea in holding this Grey's Anatomy - Private Practice crossover for the nth time! But this time, the said crossover will feature the two Sheperds.

Grey's Anatomy's Derek (Patrick Dempsey) and Private Practice's Amelia (Caterina Scorsone) will be repairing their relationship in the upcoming season of Grey's.

Caterina, who was just promoted to series regular on Private Practice, will appear in the third episode of Grey's this season, Shonda Rhimes confirmed to TV Guide.

The premise is simple: Amelia Shepherd goes to Seattle to reconcile with her brother, Derek. The two Shepherds have not been on speaking terms since Amelia turned to drugs while grieving the death of her father, who was shot and killed in front of her and Derek.

"Family is family," Scorsone says. "Regardless of the strife and tension and drama between the family members, there's a connection that is so deep. Obviously Amelia has a lot of emotion surrounding Derek and that relationship and all the things they've been through together."

In an interesting twist, Amelia will be reluctant to head to Seattle to see her brother, though she'll get a supportive push from none other than Addison (Kate Walsh) to reconcile.

"There's a lot of unresolved emotions surrounding that whole relationship. Everyone can relate to that fear of confronting situations that may result in rejection," says Scorsone.

Grey's Anatomy and Private Practice both return on September 23! If you want to refresh your mind on last season's event here is my season finale review! Part 1 and Part 2.

After the first set that they have released on Comic-Con 2010, here is another Glee Season Two Spoiler! Cheyenne Jackson is taking over on Glee.

Although previously spoilers have revealed that Idina Menzel will reprise her role as Shelby on season two, we can confirm that she will NOT return as the coach of Vocal Adrenaline. Instead, that gig will fall to a character portrayed by Jackson, a Broadway star most recently seen on 30 Rock as a new cast member of TGS.

Jackson will appear on multiple episodes next season. So you can expect a lot from him.

In other Glee casting news: Patrick Gallagher will not return as Ken Tanaka; while Chord Overstreet will come aboard as a rival for Finn.

After the introduction of the cast of The Avengers, I can say that Thor 5-minute trailer is one of the best on Comic-Con 2010.

The epic adventure Thor spans the Marvel Universe from present day Earth to the realm of Asgard. At the center of the story is The Mighty Thor, a powerful but arrogant warrior whose reckless actions reignite an ancient war. Thor is cast down to Earth and forced to live among humans as punishment. Once here, Thor learns what it takes to be a true hero when the most dangerous villain of his world sends the darkest forces of Asgard to invade Earth.

Directed by Kenneth Branagh, in Thor, Chris Hemsworth portrays the title character with Tom Hiddleston in the role of Thor’s brother Loki, and Natalie Portman as Jane Foster. Additionally, the studio has cast Academy Award® winning actor Anthony Hopkins as Odin, Renee Russo as Frigga, Ray Stevenson as Volstagg, Tadanobu Asano as Hogun, Josh Dallas as Fandral, Jaimie Alexander as Sif, Idris Elba as Heimdall, as well as Colm Feore, Kat Dennings and award-winning actor Stellan SkarsgĂ„rd.

You can view the previously released logo of Thor and some movie stills. Watch Thor Comic-Con Trailer below.

You can still download it HERE. Enjoy! You can also watch The Avengers first teaser trailer here.

Most Marvel fans were really disappointed in not seeing X-men: First Class cast in the San Diego Comic-Con but don't worry because director Matthew Vaughn is still assembling his cast in anticipation of the August start of production. Twilight fans will be happy to know that, even though Taylor Lautner won't be joining the cast, at least one member of the Twilight family will be suiting up as an X-Man. According to Deadline, Edi Gathegi, who played the vampire Laurent in the Twilight Saga movies, has signed on to play the mutant Darwin in X-Men: First Class.

Who is Darwin?

Darwin is one of the lesser-known mutants in the X-Men universe, making his debut only four years ago in the comic books on which the movie is based. Unlike most mutants who have a single power or ability, Darwin's power of "reactive evolution" grants him different powers depending upon the circumstances he finds himself in. If burned, his mutant power kicks in and makes his skin invulnerable to fire; if drowned, he grows gills; if exposed to the vacuum of space, his body adapts to withstand the heat and temperature pressures; and so on.

Gathegi joins a cast that already includes James McAvoy as Prof. X, Michael Fassbender as Magneto, Caleb Landry Jones as Banshee, Nicholas Hoult as Beast, Alice Eve as Emma Frost, Jennifer Lawrence as Mystique, and Lucas Till as Havok. Bryan Singer and Lauren Shuler Donner are producing.

For House Season Seven, the cast and producers assure one thing:

Season seven of this Fox series will focus heavily on the new relationship between House and Cuddy. It will be the real deal, producers promise.

To drive that point home, the show has released the following two promos. They're highlighted by the way in which House tells his staff he's dating their boss: "I'm seeing Cuddy... generally without any clothes on."

The first episode is set to be released on September 20. Watch the promo clips below.

US Box Office: Inception Level Two!

Posted by Maki On Tuesday, July 27, 2010 0 comments

Seeing Inception at the top of US Weekend Box Office again is not a big surprise, actually, I expect to see it more up there for next weeks. Not even Angelina Jolie's Salt can outlast this very brilliant, genius movie.

Here is US Weekend's Box Office for July 23-25:

  1. Inception - $42,725,012
  2. Salt - $36,011,243
  3. Despicable Me - $23,689,060
  4. The Sorcerer's Apprentice - $9,651,495
  5. Toy Story 3 - $8,917,512
  6. Ramona and Beezus - $7,810,481
  7. Grown Ups - $7,428,742
  8. The Twilight Saga: Eclipse - $7,186,170
  9. The Last Airbender - $4,217,021
  10. Predators - $3,120,656

In the next season of Fringe, one thing is for sure - we will be exploring more the alternate universe!

According to producer J.H. Wyman, season three of this Fox drama will focus heavily on "Over There," saying at Comic-Con over the weekend:

"We want to see how our universe would have evolved had different choices been made along the way. People are really interested in possibilities and choices that you've made or could have made that would take your life in a very different direction."

As for what else fans can expect next season...

Joshua Jackson, on Nolivia: "I think Nolivia and Peter are a more natural personality match than our Olivia and alternate Peter... they just have sort of a more animal understanding of each other. I think they're almost going to get along too well and then the inevitable wrecking comes and it will tear everything up again."

Jackson, on his character: "He's in a really bewildered state. He doesn't know who to trust or where to go."

Blair Brown, on alternate Nina: "If she's about control in this world, she's about a lack of control in that world. The actress added there will be a lot to come about Nina and Peter's relationship.

More William Bell on the way? "Should we be able to convince [Leonard Nimoy] to come out of retirement, we have another story to tell," executive producer Jeff Pinker said.

Comic Con has really brought us a lot of spoilers and sneak peeks. To take its turn, Glee cast and creator Ryan Murphy spilled out several spoilers about its upcoming second season which will be aired on September 21.

  • Look for a Rocky Horror Picture Show-themed installment.
  • Kurt and his boyfriend will vie for the title of Prom King and King.
  • We'll be treated to a religious-themed episode that includes Mercedes singing at a church (and, perhaps a focus on this character?).
  • Idina Menzel will definitely be back!
  • The Britney Spears episode will be titled “Britney/Brittany” and in September. Said Murphy:
  • "We're doing it in a very funny way. We're doing it in a fun, hallucinogenic way," adding that it will center on Mr. Schuester refusing to do Britney songs, a reflection of Matthew Morrison's expressed desire to NOT do this episode.
  • We'll meet Artie's mom, Rachel's dads and Brittany's "really smart older sister."

Saw 7 First 8 Minutes Released on Comic Con

Posted by Maki On Monday, July 26, 2010 1 comments

Update: You can now check the Saw 7 Movie Review here.

Many people were lucky enough to see the first eight minutes of Saw 7 or Saw 3D Traps Come Alive on 2010 Comic-Con. So what did they see? Read below. Warning spoilers are provided.

"The traps come alive" in this sequel, the first in the series to be released in 3D. Kevin Greutert directed from a script by Patrick Melton and Marcus Dunstan. Here's the film's official synopsis: "As a deadly battle rages over Jigsaw's brutal legacy, a group of Jigsaw survivors gathers to seek the support of self-help guru and fellow survivor Bobby Dagen, a man whose own dark secrets unleash a new wave of terror..."

The movie opens with the moments after the very end of the first Saw. Jigsaw rises to reveal that he's been the dead man on the ground the entire time and then seals the door behind him. Cut to a bloody mass and torn clothing on the ground. We see a trail of blood, which stems from a one-legged man dragging himself across the floor. Yes, it's the long-awaited return of Dr. Gordon, the protagonist of the original film played by Cary Elwes who escaped Jigsaw's deathtrap by sawing off his own leg.

The film crosscuts between Gordon and the opening titles. Gordon drags himself down a hall. He finds a scalding hot steam pipe on a wall and proceeds to cauterize his gaping wounded by pressing the bloody stump of his leg against the red-hot pipe. As he howls, the film cuts to an outdoor urban shopping area.

Shoppers and passersby are shocked to find a grisly scene beginning to play out inside a storefront window. Two twenty-something men, Brad and Ryan, wake up to find themselves shackled to either end of a worktable, each with a buzz saw before them. Suspended above them is a beautiful woman, Dina, who is shackled to some sort of ceiling rig.

The two men recognize each other and its clear that they're rivals. They scream to the people on the other side of the bay window to break the glass. The passersby attempt to but the window won't shatter. That's when the Jigsaw doll rides in on a tricycle. The game's begun.

(Since the footage we saw was unfinished the editor's voice sometimes doubled for Bell's here.) Jigsaw's voice comes over the speaker and informs his victims and the spectators outside that these two young men are both in love with the same woman. Dina is in a relationship with Brad but has been two-timing him with Ryan. Alas, she has been playing mind games with both men and Jigsaw's going to teach them all a lesson. Is this selfish and, in Jigsaw's words, "toxic" woman worth taking a life over?

Here's the game: They must force their buzz saws across the table and kill their opponent if they're to save the woman they believe they love, or they can choose to finally see her for what she truly is. If one of the men doesn't kill the other then Dina will be lowered into a buzz saw and sliced in half. The men begin their "duel" as the onlookers react in horror and the clock ticks down from 60 seconds.

Dina yells to Brad that she loves him and he must kill Ryan. Ryan is shattered as he thought she loved him. Furious, Ryan soon gets the advantage, forcing his buzz saw close enough to cut Brad's chest. That's when Dina changes her tune and tells Ryan that she's really always loved him not Brad and to kill him. Just as it looks like the men will kill one or the other over her, Ryan calls out to Brad that they don't need to do this. That she's not worth it. Brad relents. The men have made their choice. Dina freaks out. "I think we're breaking up with you, Dina," Ryan says.

The cops rush to the window, trying to hold the crowd back while also trying to get to the victims in time. But they're too late. The buzz saw blades whir into Dina's abdomen, showering the window with her blood to the disgust of the crowd. Dina dies a protracted and gruesome death, as her intestines spill out of her and onto the floor. She finally dies, with a long line of blood drooling from her lips. End of scene.

You can also see the first trap and watch the teaser trailer to prepare yourself for the release of Saw 7 on October 22. There are also reports on how gory will it be.

Got sick of The Avengers cast rumors? Well, those rumors were no longer rumors because The Avengers cast and director were finally revealed on Comic-Con.

Joss Whedon is directing The Avengers as he made the announcement at Comic-Con saying:

“It’s not an official thing, I think because Marvel couldn’t afford a press release. So can we make that an official thing? I’m directing The Avengers!” So, there you go, one mystery finally solved!

But that’s not all! Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige brought the entire crew of the movie down to San Diego: Chris Evans as Captain America, Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury, Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man, Scarlett Johansson as Black Widow, Clark Gregg as Coulson, Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Jeremy Renner as Hawkeye, and Mark Ruffalo as Bruce Banner.

“I’m still writing an outline. I’m still in that stage. I will say the thing I love about it, the thing that made me excited to do it, is how counterintuitive it is. These people shouldn’t be in the same room – and that is the very definition of family.”

This week, the casting of Chuck is one of the busiest. So what will you say if I tell you that Chuck's mom is a Terminator franchise regular?

Days after we learned that Dolph Lundgren, Olivia Munn, Nicole Richie and Stone Cold Steve Austin would all appear next season, the show's producers announced at Comic-Con today that Linda Hamilton will come on board as the title character's mother. She promised that she will play a key role throughout the season four.

“We’re always looking for guest stars who will be great in the part, but who also speak to our audience and feel like it comes out of the universe of our show,” said executive producer Josh Schwartz. “If Chuck and Morgan were watching Chuck, they would be excited about Linda coming on board.”

Hamilton will always be best known as Sarah Connor from the Terminator franchise.

Added producer Chris Fedak: “The mystery surrounding Chuck’s mom is at the heart of the season, and there are going to be some shocking surprises in the first episode.By the end of the episode we are going to turn everything on its head with regard to who she is.”

We haven't officially met. I'm Katherine.
Comic-Con has really lots of surprises, one of which is the appearance of cast and crew of The Vampire Diaries. They presented their first official trailer for the highly-anticipated second season.

We have a video for you. As seen below, Katherine will waste no time in making her presence in Mystic Falls felt. But you might be surprised at who she claims to have come back for.

The fourth season of Big Bang Theory will tackle more on Sheldon's life. One great evidence for such is the return of Mayim Bialik as Sheldon's love interest. "Sheldon is not changing from the Sheldon we know. The challenge has been to figure out what kind of a relationship members of this species might have," Aronsohn said.

On the relationship of Leonard and Penny, one thing is for sure, they will be friends again. "We just want to do what will provide us with more stories," Lee said of the pair. "We've seen shows that have really hurt themselves by doing a lot of will-they-won't-they, and when they finally do, no one really cares anymore. We want to keep it interesting."

Another interesting fact for the next season of Big Bang Theory is the appearance of Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak on one episode. What will be his role? We all don't know it yet.

The first trailer of Bruce Willis' Red was released a month ago, so now there is another one for DC Comics fans. See the second official movie trailer below then if you still have time, make sure to view some movie stills from the said movie.

Frank (Bruce Willis), Joe (Morgan Freeman), Marvin (John Malkovich) and Victoria (Helen Mirren) used to be the CIA’s top agents – but the secrets they know just made them the Agency’s top targets. Now framed for assassination, they must use all of their collective cunning, experience and teamwork to stay one step ahead of their deadly pursuers and stay alive. To stop the operation, the team embarks on an impossible, cross-country mission to break into the top-secret CIA headquarters, where they will uncover one of the biggest conspiracies and cover-ups in government history.Red will hit the big screens on October 15, 2010.

Jack Sparrow is one of the coolest characters alive! He'll be returning on the next installment of Pirates of the Caribbean. He surprised everyone, sitting on the beach with a bottle of rum and speaking directly to the Comic-Con audience. He told the audience that it certainly wasn’t the case that he would soon be embarking on a quest to find the fountain of youth but that, even if he were, he wouldn’t be looking for a crew. But, if he did, would anyone in the audience be interested? He promised that such an adventure would include “zombies, cutthroats, mermaids and… Penelope Cruz” and that it would be the kind of quest that would require “A bloody map. Or a bloody Mary. Or both.”

Below is the footage of Jack Sparrow's appearance on

In Pirates 4, Captain Jack Sparrow crosses paths with a woman from his past (Penelope Cruz), and he's not sure if it's love--or if she's a ruthless con artist who's using him to find the fabled Fountain of Youth. When she forces him aboard the Queen Anne's Revenge, the ship of the formidable pirate Blackbeard (Ian McShane), Jack finds himself on an unexpected adventure in which he doesn't know who to fear more: Blackbeard or the woman from his past.

Jigsaw fans are getting crazier everyday seeing one trap at a time. But we don't have to wait for so long to see the others because Lionsgate released the first ever Saw 3D Teaser Trailer. Above is one of the Saw 7 traps that we will all see on the said movie.

"It's time to stop," producer Oren Koules told USA Today, "We have told the story we wanted to tell, and this is going to be a great farewell." October 22nd will mark the last release date for the Saw franchise. After seven movies, the series has finally run its course.

The latest Saw film will reportedly feature 11 booby traps- double the average of the previous installments, and was apparently re-edited and submitted to the MPAA six times before it secured an R rating, avoiding the stigma of an NC-17.

"I'm surprised we got it," said fellow producer Mark Burg. "It's more violent than any of them. But it's in 3-D, it answers all the questions, it comes full circle. We have the goods on this one."

Do you want to see other Saw 7 traps? Then watch the Saw 7 Teaser Trailer below:

There are few girls who are currently CSI fans. Having this said, CSI will feature Justin Bieber on its season premiere on September 23.

Justin Bieber will make his acting debut on the season premiere of CSI, as the 16-year old singer will portray Jason McCann. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the character is troubled teen who will have a run in with the investigative team.

"Every 20 years, a phenomenon like Justin Bieber graces our world," said executive producers Carol Mendelsohn, Don McGill and Anthony Zuiker in joint statement. "We'd like to believe that the phenomenon of CSI has had the same impact on popular culture.

"The opportunity to bring them together in the premiere is a great treat for our audience and all of its new viewers. This will be true event television. We're looking forward to Justin's dramatic star turn, not only in the premiere, but in a continuing seasonal arc."

Honestly, as of now, I can't imagine Bieber appearing on one of my favorite crime investigation shows.

Another DC Comics graphic novel for this year! We watched the trailer of Bruce Willis' Red and now it is time to see some movie stills.

Based on the cult D.C. Comics graphic novels by Warren Ellis and Cully Hamner, Red is an explosive action-comedy starring Bruce Willis, Morgan Freeman, John Malkovich and Helen Mirren.

To stop the operation, the team embarks on an impossible, cross-country mission to break into the top-secret CIA headquarters, where they will uncover one of the biggest conspiracies and cover-ups in government history.

Mark your calendar because the release date set for this movie is October 15, 2010.

The season premiere of Chuck is still months away but the casts are getting bigger and bolder. Why? We got some returnees!

Look for Nicole Richie to reprise her role of Heather Chandler in an October episode. Last seen in 2008, the character will reportedly resurface this fall when a prison transfer goes awry. As a result, Chandler will end up at Castle.

Entertainment Weekly adds that Heather's appearance coincides with obstacles in the Chuck and Sarah relationship, meaning she might take advantage of this rift - and Chuck viewers might really start to hate her.

On the other hand, expect Stone Cold Steve Austin to return as Hugo Panzer. Got enough? I am sure that there are lots more addition in the future so better watch out for more news! Meanwhile, get acquainted with the latest Season Four spoilers of Chuck.

    TSL Rating: 3.5 / 5.0
What I like about The Sorcerer's Apprentice is that it didn't make me bored in the first part but unfortunately, I felt sleepy on the ending scenes. It was a complete irony because I should have felt the intensity of the final scene but it was a lackluster performance. The energy from the beginning was slowly getting down as the movie progressed. The beginning was awesome, no time wasted on that part, but the story for me was too shallow. There were no twists and the excitement build up was simply missing. But honestly I had fun.

The "Fantasia mop scene" was spectacular. I felt like I was a kid again watching Mickey Mouse and the mops. Nicolas Cage's performance met my expectations, Jay Baruchel was somewhere in the middle and Alfred Molina's character was so weak.

I rarely give a comment on the technical aspect of a movie, but the editing that I saw on Sorcerer's Apprentice was just awful. The transitions were so bad and I felt a little uncomfortable on it. But the special effects were pretty cool.

To sum things up, I had fun but I'll surely forget this movie in no time.

    Transformers 3 New Set Photos

Posted by Maki On Thursday, July 22, 2010 0 comments

After the spy photos and spy videos that we presented last week, here are other photos that will surely satisfy your Transformers needs. Transformers 3 set photos are now online, and we are all thankful to the people who went to the set and captured some shots for us! So far one thing is for sure – get ready for a lot of destruction! Giant creatures – giant mess!

We already had a lot of reports about upcoming Michael Bay’s movie that stars Shia LaBeouf, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Julie White, Kevin Dunn, Josh Duhamel, Tyrese Gibson, Alan Tudyk and John Malkovich, so make sure you refresh your memory.

In the mean time, take a look at LaBeouf filming an action scene, or explosions based on the wires that could be seen coming out of many of the beat-up cars used for the film, or even more – skydivers who jumped off the Trump Tower, soaring over the Chicago River and landing on Wacker Drive. There are lots of Autobots present on this filming location. See them all below.

We already saw Blackbeard's ship and Jack Sparrow through the photos which circulated online. So it is time to go to the set of "Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stanger Tides" and see some more from the cast and production. The filming location is on Oahu near the Blowhole at Halona Cove.

Movie also stars Ian McShane as Blackbeard, Penelope Cruz as Blackbeard’s daughter, Geoffrey Rush as Captain Barbosa, Kevin R. McNally as Captain Jack’s longtime comrade Joshamee Gibbs, Stephen Graham, Astrid Berges-Frisbey as a mysterious mermaid, Max Irons and Gemma Ward.

At the end, let us remind you that Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides comes to theaters May 20th, 2011.

I think what is left now is the photo of Penelope Cruz! Come on, howcome they are hiding her from public exposure. But I think on the next set of photos, we will already see her.

    First Saw 7 Trap

Posted by Maki On 1 comments

Reports on some details about Saw 7 or Saw 3D Traps Come Alive were released last week. Since then, many got curious on what are the probable traps available for the seventh installment of this jigsaw franchise. Luckily, now, we have a preview on how one of the traps will be. Below is the first still from Saw 7.

So what do you think on the trap?

I think there is a chain attached on the girl's neck. I am just not sure what she will do to escape such. There are also two huge hooks, I think they are subjects of this trap.

The first theatrical feature to be shot exclusively on the cutting-edge SI-3D digital camera system, Saw VII 3-D brings the horrifying games of Jigsaw to life like never before. The film stars Tobin Bell, Cary Elwes, Costas Mandylor, Betsy Russell and Sean Patrick Flannery, and was directed by Kevin Greutert (Saw VI, Old Friends) from Marcus Dunstan and Patrick Melton’s script.

Saw VII 3D is a Lionsgate Release and  will hit theaters October 22, 2010, opposite the Paranormal Activity 2. Mark this day, we will all get thrilled and scared!

    Covet Affairs S01E01 - Pilot

Covet Affairs. The title is quite interesting so I gave it a try. The pilot episode was just fine but I think it was not that stunning. I expected a lot of facts to be given away but, for me, it was lacking. However, I am still hopeful about the progress of this TV series. I don't know if it's just me but I found the pilot a bit similar to Fox' Fringe, especially on the affair of the main woman character to a mysterious guy.

Here are other facts about Annie Walker that we got:

    • She's fliuent in six languages.
    • She's a CIA trainee.
    • She met a man in Sri Lanka years ago and fell in love, only for him to vanish in the middle of the night with nothing but a note.
I agree to TV Fanatic's statement that Piper Perabo is perfect in the role. Eerily, she even resembles Jennifer Garner to an extent, as it's impossible not to make comparisons to Alias. That show, of course, focused on a heavy mythology surrounding its female lead, and Covert Affairs also leaves the viewer wondering what the deal between Annie, the CIA and mystery man Ben Mercer is all about.

Other notes given by different TV series site on the pilot episode of Covet Affairs:
    • I can never get enough of Peter Gallagher. It was entertaining to watch him and Joan go through a marital spat while using CIA resources for personal reasons. Didn't exactly make Joan seem like a strong, confident woman, however.
    • I can hear music similar to what Grey's Anatomy had.
    • I'm not sure which is more unusual: a blind technology expert, or a blind ladies' man? The scene between Auggie, Annie and Conrad at the bar - where each used his skills to take guesses about the woman sitting next to them - was very well done.
    • It's early, but seems like the show is wasting Anne Dudek. She plays a role on Mad Men and was incredible as Wilson's late girlfriend on House. She's worthy of a lot more than Annie's boring sister.
    • I'm not CIA expert, so maybe a reader can help: Must all CIA agents keep their jobs a secret? Couldn't Annie's loved ones know her occupation, without knowing its exact details at least?
    • I hope on the next episode, I'll meet more interesting characters who will give a lot more color and dynamics to the new series.
